Private Ham flew one mission for NASA on January 31, 1961. His 16 minute and 39
second flight showed that humans could probably perform tasks in space. After
splashdown, Private Ham was retired and lived the remainder of his life (17
years) in zoos. He passed away on January 19, 1983.
