Fetcher's style number was misrepresented as 4289 in numerous value guides. It appears that one of the post 2000 value guides transposed the last two numbers of the Ty-assigned style number and subsequent value guides and other Beanie Baby information publications replicated that error.

The 2000 Ty retailer catalog lists Fetcher's style number as 4298. That is also the style number printed on the back of Fetcher's swing tag.

Tycollector.com has received inquiries from collectors who claim there is a Beanie Baby named "Fletcher" with a style number of 4289. Over the past several years, we have seen listings for "Fletcher" on eBay. In every case, the name on the swing tag and tush tag (if shown in the listing) was for "Fetcher." The photograph of the dog in the listing was identical to Fetcher. We don't know why sellers are listing the dog as "Fletcher," when the tags clearly show the name as "Fetcher." The Ty retailer catalogs for 1999, 2000 and 2001 do not have any reference to "Fletcher."
